Tom Scott is a British presenter who, for ten years until January 2024, published a short factual video every week: one place, one piece of engineering, one oddity of language or law, explained to camera in a red T-shirt in under ten minutes. The series included Things You Might Not Know, Amazing Places, The Basics on computing, and the Language Files. He stopped the weekly schedule deliberately, with the back catalogue left standing, and continues with the podcast Lateral and the panel game The Technical Difficulties.

The discipline is the recommendation: one claim per video, checked, with the source in the description and a pinned correction when something turned out to be wrong. Scott's videos are what fact-checking looks like when it is done before publication rather than after, and the decision to stop while the quality held rather than let it decay is rarer than it should be. The computing and language videos are the best quick primers of their kind.
