Bill Bryson

Notes

Bill Bryson (born 1951), American-born writer long resident in Britain, best known for travel books (Notes from a Small Island, A Walk in the Woods) and for A Short History of Nearly Everything, an outsider's tour of what science knows and how it found out. Made in America and Mother Tongue do the same for the English language. He is here as the model of the intelligent amateur: no credentials in the subject, a great deal of reading, and an honest report of what he found.
