Susan Blackmore
Notes
Susan Blackmore (born 1951), British psychologist who began as a parapsychologist after an out-of-body experience as a student, spent years testing psychic claims, found nothing, and became one of the most careful sceptics of the field. Dying to Live (1993) is the standard naturalistic account of near-death experiences; The Meme Machine (1999) developed Dawkins's idea of memes; she is a long-time Zen practitioner who holds that the self is an illusion and that meditation shows it. She appears here for the near-death work and for the honest change of mind.
