Martin Luther King Jr.

Notes

Martin Luther King Jr. (1929–1968), American Baptist minister and the central figure of the civil rights movement. The hope expressed in the 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech, that his children would "not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character", is the principle of colourblind social policy in a sentence. That the principle is now contested by some who claim his legacy is one of the stranger developments of the last twenty years.
