Richard Swinburne
Notes
Richard Swinburne (born 1934) is a British philosopher of religion, formerly Nolloth Professor at Oxford, and the most influential academic defender of theism of the last fifty years. His The Existence of God (1979; 2nd ed. 2004) assembles the cumulative case in Bayesian form, treating the regularity of nature, fine-tuning, consciousness, beauty and religious experience as strands that together make theism more probable than not. He appears here as the author of the strongest versions of several of the arguments.
