Overview
Joel Haver makes short animated comedies by filming himself and friends improvising a scene and then rotoscoping the footage into a loose, hand-drawn style. The sketches are mostly about small social absurdities: an RPG player who refuses to take the quest, a man who cannot stop calling things "the mind of a genius", two people failing to leave a conversation. He also makes feature-length independent films, released free on the channel, roughly one a year.
Notes
The most purely likeable channel on this list. Haver's comedy is observational in the old sense, built on how people actually talk, and the animation style turns mumbled improvisation into something that looks deliberate. He is also a working demonstration that one person with a camera and a drawing tablet can make a feature film, which is a cheering fact.
