Evelyn Forget

Notes

Evelyn Forget (born 1956), Canadian health economist at the University of Manitoba. In the 2000s she tracked down the boxed and unanalysed records of Mincome, the guaranteed-income experiment run in Dauphin, Manitoba, from 1974 to 1979, and her 2011 paper "The Town with No Poverty" found that hospital admissions fell, more teenagers stayed in school, and almost nobody stopped working. It is the single most cited piece of evidence in the basic income debate and the reason the Dauphin story is told at all.
