Overview
Coleman Hughes is an American writer and podcaster, author of The End of Race Politics (2024), and the channel carries his podcast Conversations with Coleman: long interviews with academics, writers, scientists, and politicians on race, free speech, policy, philosophy, and whatever else the guest knows about. He argues for a colourblind approach to public policy and against race-conscious ones, and a good proportion of his guests are people who think he is wrong about that. He is also a jazz trumpeter, and occasionally the podcast remembers it.
Notes
On my based list for the manner of arguing: he states his case, lets the guest state theirs at length, and changes position in public when he has been given a reason to. The colourblind case he makes is close to my own under Colourblind social policy and Equality of opportunity, and the interviews with his critics are the best test of it I have found. The podcast is also one of the few places where the American arguments about race are conducted at a volume a British listener can bear.
