Josh McDowell (born 1939) is an American evangelist whose Evidence That Demands a Verdict (1972) was the standard apologetics handbook for a generation of evangelicals. It popularised the Argument from Fulfilled Prophecy, the Argument from Martyrdom ("who would die for a lie?"), Lewis's Trilemma, and the Eyewitness Testimony Argument. His son Sean McDowell's The Fate of the Apostles (2015) is the honest attempt to document the martyrdoms, and concedes evidence for only a few.
