Sidney Powell (born 1955), American lawyer who, after the 2020 election, promised to "release the Kraken" and filed suits alleging that Dominion voting machines had been built for Hugo Chávez and had switched millions of votes. Every suit failed and she was sanctioned for them; her defence to Dominion's defamation claim was that no reasonable person would have taken her statements as fact. She pleaded guilty in Georgia in 2023 to conspiring to interfere with election duties. She appears in The 2020 US Election Steal and January 6 as the author of the theory's most elaborate form.
