Jerry Coyne (born 1949), American evolutionary geneticist, emeritus at Chicago. Why Evolution Is True (2009) is the best single-volume summary of the evidence for evolution for a general reader; Faith Versus Fact (2015) argues that religion and science are incompatible ways of knowing. Also the author of the blog of the same name as the first book, where he is combative about both.
