Ludwig Wittgenstein
Notes
Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889–1951), Austrian-British philosopher who produced two incompatible philosophies, each enormously influential. The Tractatus tried to fix the limits of language; the Philosophical Investigations replaced that with Language Games, where meaning is use. Most arguments about "what love really is" or "what atheism really means" are the second Wittgenstein's territory.
