Steven Pinker (born 1954), Canadian-American cognitive scientist. The Blank Slate argues that human nature is real and that denying it does egalitarian politics no favours; The Better Angels of Our Nature argues that violence has declined. Both are more right than his critics allow and more complacent than he allows.
