Deborah Lipstadt (born 1947), American historian at Emory University. Denying the Holocaust (1993) was the first systematic study of the denial movement, and its description of David Irving as a denier led him to sue her for libel in London, where English law placed the burden on her to prove the claim true. She did. History on Trial (2005) is her account; the film Denial (2016) dramatises it. US Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, 2022–2025.
