Overview
Nigel Braun, a Canadian chemistry graduate, carries out long chemistry projects on camera and explains them as he goes: turning plastic gloves into hot sauce, extracting the aerogel from a single ingredient, making the world's most expensive element sample, recreating an obsolete industrial process in a home lab. The videos show the failures as well as the results, and the explanations assume no more than school chemistry.
Notes
The best science channel for showing what doing science is actually like: slow, repetitive, mostly failure, and then it works. Braun's habit of explaining why a step failed and what he changed is the scientific method in miniature, and watching him revise a procedure is a better lesson in fallibilism than most essays on the subject. It is also simply good television.
