Bart Ehrman
Notes
Bart D. Ehrman (born 1955), American New Testament scholar at the University of North Carolina, a former evangelical who became an agnostic atheist through the study of the texts. His popular books (Misquoting Jesus, 2005; Jesus, Interrupted, 2009; How Jesus Became God, 2014) are the clearest accounts for a general reader of what mainstream scholarship actually says about the authorship, dating, transmission, and contradictions of the New Testament. He accepts that Jesus existed and argues against mythicism.
