Franz Kafka
Notes
Franz Kafka (1883–1924), Prague-born writer of The Trial and The Metamorphosis. Asked for his manuscripts to be burned; his friend Max Brod published them instead, and "Kafkaesque" entered the language for any bureaucracy that cannot be reasoned with.
