What is this?

This collection of notes, sometimes referred to as a “second brain” or “knowledge garden,” is intended to be a living collection of documents that grow and evolve as my views develop.

At it's heart they are my notes; for my own use and reference.

It was started 27th May, 2025.

Why I am publishing this

As an active participant in various online groups, communities, and spaces—and as someone who values honesty and transparency (within the limits of human capacity)—I believe it may be useful to share my notes publicly.

These notes are published in the hope that others may find them valuable as well as challenge me on points of disagreement.

Acknowledgement of theft and an invitation to thieves

Most of the ideas and arguments on this site are not entirely my own. Some are original, but much of what you will find here is not. I have, I freely confess, stolen these fruits from the trees of others’ knowledge.

However, much like the bee that steals nectar from a flower, mine is an amicable theft.

These trees are frequently grown for the very purpose of providing fruit for others to take, and their fruit may be stolen without ever diminishing the supply or depriving its owner of its use. Moreover, a world full of useful fruit is surely all the better for those who grew the trees. Consequently, no one need be cast out of anywhere.

Where possible, I have tried to provide sources and attribution, sometimes with the assistance of AI, as I am, on occasion, too lazy to do a proper job of it myself. Most of these ideas have been around for so long that I consider the risk of AI making a mistake relatively low; or, at least, of making one I would not have made myself.

So, if you would like to steal any of the ideas presented here, please do. Give credit where appropriate, if your conscience dictates it. The important thing is to pass the ideas on, make them part of the conversion, remain open to the possibility of being wrong and, ideally, improve upon what you find.

Limitations

Many important things are not here; Nor are all the things I belive. Omissions are mostly likely due to other things attracting my interest and attention; limited time or perhaps I simply have not yet formed an opinions off sufficient confidence or value to share.

If you think I should add something, let me know. Not everything here I believe, updating this document will be likely sporadic

Absence of inclusion is not a deceleration of disinterest on a believe about unimportant.

We can still be friends

Most people don't share views like this; and because we often don’t know what others think, it’s easier to get along. If we strongly disagree about politics, but simply never discuss it, our relationship remains unaffected.

I accept that many kind, honest, and wise people hold views different from mine. I am also aware there other groups of people who also hold views different from mine. So disagreement alone isn't enough to change my mind. I look to critical rationalism and reason as best I can; whilst acknowledging that I am a monkey in shoes, and as such it is not always within my capacity to be rational in any given moment.

Sharing my ideas publicly means many will find reasons to disagree with me—often on matters they consider deeply important. For my part, I believe we can acknowledge these differences and still be friends. We don’t need ignorance of each other’s beliefs to be the fragile foundation of our connection.

I fully accept that I may be wrong, inaccurate, or mistaken about many things. Sharing my ideas openly is an invitation to honest criticism and a willingness to hear others’ objections.
