Overview
Emma Thorne is a British YouTuber who watches religious and conspiracist media so that the rest of us do not have to: evangelical children's programmes, creationist documentaries, purity-culture teaching material, street-preacher footage, Christian feature films, and the occasional flat-earth video. The format is commentary over the source, with the original allowed to run long enough to make its own case before she takes it apart. She also makes longer pieces on the history and psychology of particular movements and visits the attractions, such as creation museums, in person.
Notes
On my based list, and the reason is temperament. Most commentary in this genre is contempt with clips; Thorne is curious about why anyone believes the thing, lets the material speak, and is funnier for it. The children's programming episodes are the best short case I know for the position under Religious Upbringing of Children, because the indoctrination is on screen and needs no gloss. Her creationist material pairs with Creationism and Intelligent Design.
