Christof Koch

Notes

Christof Koch (born 1956), German-American neuroscientist, long-time collaborator of Francis Crick on the neural correlates of consciousness and former president of the Allen Institute for Brain Science. The most prominent scientific advocate of Integrated Information Theory and, through it, of a form of panpsychism; he accepts that on the theory a simple grid of logic gates could be more conscious than a person. In 1998 he bet David Chalmers a case of wine that the neural correlates of consciousness would be found by 2023, and paid up in Chalmers' favour. He appears here for the one version of panpsychism that has made predictions.
