Frank Jackson
Notes
Frank Jackson (born 1943), Australian philosopher who devised Mary’s Room in 1982 as an argument against physicalism. The paper's title, "Epiphenomenal Qualia", gives away the position it defended: experience is real and does nothing, the one form of dualism that survives the physics (Epiphenomenalism). He later changed his mind and became a physicalist, which is more than most authors of famous thought experiments manage.
