Galen Strawson
Notes
Galen Strawson (born 1952), British philosopher, son of P. F. Strawson, now at the University of Texas. His 2006 paper "Realistic Monism: Why Physicalism Entails Panpsychism" relaunched panpsychism in analytic philosophy by arguing that anyone who is serious about experience being real and physical must accept that the fundamental physical entities have experiential properties, since experience cannot emerge from the wholly non-experiential. I accept his first premise and deny the "cannot"; see Panpsychism and Neutral Monism. He is also a hard incompatibilist about free will, holding that ultimate moral responsibility is impossible, where I am closer to him.
