Patricia Churchland
Notes
Patricia Churchland (born 1943), Canadian-American philosopher at the University of California, San Diego, who with her husband Paul Churchland founded "neurophilosophy": the view that the philosophy of mind should be done in close contact with neuroscience. Associated with eliminative materialism, the claim that the folk vocabulary of beliefs and desires may be replaced rather than vindicated by a mature neuroscience, as the vocabulary of humours was. I share her physicalism and hold the eliminativism more loosely than she does. Braintrust (2011) is her account of where morality comes from, and it is close to mine.
